Introduction:

A guest lecture program was organized by the Kannada department on the topic of Kannada translation of Shakespeare's plays and why students should read Shakespeare.

Lecture:

Prof. Balaji BN provided information on the Kannada translation of Shakespeare's plays. He also spoke about some of the important translations of Shakespeare's plays into Kannada.

He then went on to discuss the diversity of themes, values, and human elements in Shakespeare's plays. He used examples to illustrate how Shakespeare's plays have been popular in different countries and at different times.

He also explained how Shakespeare's plays have become timeless and universal. He used examples of characters from various plays to illustrate this point. He also spoke about how Shakespeare has influenced the world of art, literature, cinema, and other popular art forms.

Finally, he emphasized that the values of compassion, love, truth, peace, and justice that are propagated in Shakespeare's plays are still relevant today. He also spoke about how Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba and Sadguru Sri Madhusudan Sai are also propagating these values through their service.

Conclusion:

Prof. Balaji BN's guest lecture was successful in explaining the importance of Shakespeare's plays. He emphasized that Shakespeare's plays are not just of artistic value, but that the values they propagate are still relevant today.

Attendance:

Dr Manjunatha Palya, Head of the Language Department, Dr Hemant Kumar, Dr Sujatha, and Dr Ashok NS, Assistant Professors, were present at the program. Postgraduate students from Muddenahalli, senior students, undergraduate students from Nallakadirenahalli, and undergraduate students from Kalaburagi participated in the program and learned important concepts.
