The eighth edition of the Sri Sathya Sai Award for Human Excellence, an initiative of the Sri Sathya Sai University for Human Excellence, founded by Global Humanitarian and Spiritual Leader Sri Madhusudan Sai, was held on November 23, 2024, at Sathya Sai Grama. The event celebrated the 99th birth anniversary of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba and recognized individuals who embodied the values of selfless service and excellence.
Our Chief Guest, Sri A Balasubramaniam of the Aditya Birla Group, graced the occasion. The Chancellor of the Sri Sathya Sai University for Human Excellence, Mr B.N. Narasimha Murthy, delivered an introductory speech emphasizing the essence of selfless love as taught by Bhagawan Baba.
The ceremony recognized awardees for their impactful work, with heartfelt gratitude expressed towards patrons and supporters. The event concluded with the national anthem, reinforcing the spirit of unity and service inspired by Bhagwan Sri Sathya Sai Baba.
Award Winners 2024:
Education: Hari Kiran Vadlamani – Preserving and promoting Indic wisdom, shaping a global appreciation for Indian art, culture, and knowledge systems.
Health: Dr Rani Bang & Dr Abhay Bang – Transforming healthcare with groundbreaking solutions for women and infants, reshaping rural and global health policies.
Environment: Jadav Payeng – Turning barren land into a thriving 1,300-acre Molai forest, inspiring environmental stewardship worldwide.
Woman and Child Welfare: Arunachalam Muruganantham – Revolutionising menstrual health with low-cost solutions, empowering rural women with dignity and livelihood.
Unity of Religions: K K Muhammed – Unearthing India’s ancient treasures to preserve and connect us to our shared heritage.
Music and Fine Arts: Anjolie Ela Menon – Enriching Indian contemporary art by blending timeless traditions with modern expression.
Yoga and Sports: Dr Deepa Malik – Championing ability beyond disability, empowering thousands through her resilience and advocacy.
These changemakers embodied the spirit of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam – One World One Family, inspiring generations to serve, create, and transform.
Sri Madhusudan Sai remarked on the significance of the awards, saying, "The 2024 edition brought together dignitaries and extraordinary individuals to honour the best of The Legends."
The jury for the awards comprised renowned experts and luminaries, including Prof. J.S. Rajput, Dr. J. Shashidhara Prasad, Dr. Shiv Kumar Sarin, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Mrs. Sudha Ragunathan, and Dr. Sunil Gavaskar.
